Damson Idris Starring Vehicle ‘Sacrament’ In Development At Apple

,

Apple Original Films is developing Sacrament, a thriller with Jonathan Levine attached to direct and Damson Idris attached to produce. Deadline first broke the news. Sources told the outlet the plan is to build the film as a starring vehicle for Idris, and the project is in early development.

Deadline describes the film this way: “Written by Enzo Mileti & Scott Wilson, the film follows two Chicago cops-turned-contractors who track a runaway thief to a remote and fortified township in Sacrament, UT. What begins as a routine job escalates into a battle where they are outnumbered, outgunned and forced to become better partners.”

Sacrament comes from Apple Studios, and Chernin Entertainment produces through its first-look feature deal with Apple. Peter Chernin and David Ready produce for Chernin Entertainment. Idris produces under his Keep Quiet Productions banner, and Levine produces with Gillian Bohrer through their company MegaMix.

Deadline reports Chernin approached Idris with the script, and that the film reunites him with Mileti and Wilson, who worked with him on the FX series Snowfall.

Idris is currently filming Miles & Juliette, the Miles Davis film from director Bill Pohlad, and he’ll soon be seen in Netflix series The Lords’ Day, which he also executive produces.
