BET and aTwist have announced the premiere of Church Wives, a drama series starring and executive produced by Gizelle Bryant of The Real Housewives of Potomac. The series is the second title from the two companies’ microseries partnership and joins BET’s Where Drama Lives Wednesday lineup next month.
What is ‘Church Wives’ on BET about?
According to the official description, “Set inside a prominent megachurch, Church Wives follows two ambitious women who go to war for status and power when a coveted leadership role opens up. Polite competition escalates fast, turning committee meetings, fundraisers, and Bible studies into battlegrounds for manipulation and shifting alliances. As devotion gives way to ego, the congregation is caught in the fallout, and victory starts to matter more than faith itself.”
Who stars in ‘Church Wives’ on BET?
Bryant leads a series-regular cast that includes Ashley Clarice, Amberlin Morse, Kiana Nicole Washington, Cortez Adams, Alicia Marie, Lanre Idewu, Suki Sullivan, Paul Jerome, Cynthia Pope, Amanda Michelle Smith, Rhonda Bankston, Victoria Udeh and Shannon Echols.

aTwist, a vertical storytelling studio and entertainment platform, produces the series. The company was founded by Jana Winograde, the former president of Showtime, Susan Rovner, the former chairman of NBCU Content and president of Warner Bros. TV, and Lloyd Braun, the former chairman of ABC Entertainment Group and of WME. Bryant also executive produces.
The microseries has been reformatted into half-hour installments in a horizontal format for BET. After a limited first-run window of those long-form episodes, the series will move to aTwist’s vertical platform in microseries form, at a date the companies say will be announced soon.
When does ‘Church Wives’ premiere?
Church Wives premieres Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 10 p.m. ET on BET, with new episodes airing weekly.
