‘Club Kid’ Trailer: Jordan Firstman’s Cannes Breakout Drops First Footage From A24 Before TIFF Bow

A24 has released the first trailer for Club Kid, Jordan Firstman’s feature directorial debut, following its premiere in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival, and before its bow at the Toronto International Film Festival.

What is ‘Club Kid’ about?

Per the official description, “a hard-partying New York City club promoter sees his whirlwind lifestyle upended by the arrival of the 10-year-old son he never knew he had.”

Club Kid received a seven-minute standing ovation at its Cannes premiere and was nominated for the Caméra d’Or and the Queer Palm, according to Deadline. A24 acquired global rights to the film after a bidding war involving Mubi, Focus Features, Searchlight and Netflix, with the deal ultimately closing at $17 million, per Variety.

Firstman told Deadline the film was inspired by a period in his life when he found himself unexpectedly surrounded by kids.

Who stars in ‘Club Kid’?

Firstman writes, directs and stars in the film alongside Reggie Absolom and Diego Calva. The cast also includes Cara Delevingne, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Colleen Camp, Vicki Pepperdine, Nigil Whyte, Eldar Isgandarov, Saturn Risin9, Miss Benny and Alaska Riley.

Alex Coco and Galen Core produce, alongside Topic Studios’ Ryan Heller and Michael Bloom. Firstman also serves as an executive producer alongside Ian Stratford, Charles Croft and Jasmine Daghighian for Topic, and Olmo Schnabel and Daniela Taplin for Stay Gold, which co-financed the film.

When does ‘Club Kid’ premiere?

Club Kid opens in theaters Nov. 6, following stops at the Toronto International Film Festival and New York Film Festival.
