NBC has announced the premiere date and name for the upcoming, non-celebrity The Traitors series.
The Traitors: New Blood, a new civilian-led version of the Emmy Award-winning competition series on Peacock, is set for September. Alan Cumming returns as host.
What is ‘The Traitors: New Blood’?
Rather than celebrities, The Traitors: New Blood opens Cumming’s Scottish castle to 22 everyday Americans selected from more than 60,000 applicants nationwide. The format remains the same, with Cumming choosing players as either Traitors or Faithful, with Traitors working to eliminate the Faithful while avoiding detection, all competing for a prize fund worth up to $250,000.
The Peacock version of The Traitors earned five Primetime Emmy Awards for Season 3, including Outstanding Reality Competition Program and Outstanding Host for Cumming, his second consecutive win in the category. Season 4 also recently led the Critics Choice Real TV Awards with five wins.
The Traitors is produced by Studio Lambert. Cumming executive produces alongside Mike Cotton, Sam Rees-Jones, Rosie Franks, Jack Burgess, Stephen Lambert, Tim Harcourt and Doran Azouelos.
When does ‘The Traitors: New Blood’ premiere?
The Traitors: New Blood debuts Sept. 17 on NBC with a two-hour premiere event, followed by weekly episodes Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET. New episodes stream the next day on Peacock.
