Did Netflix Cancel ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’? What To Know About Season 5

Netflix confirmed last month that The Lincoln Lawyer will end after five seasons. The Manuel Garcia-Rulfo-led legal drama has spent 29 weeks on Netflix’s Global Top 10 and racked up 171 million views since 2023. Here’s what to know about the final season:

Did Netflix cancel ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’?

Technically, yes — but Season 5 was greenlit at the end of January 2026 before Season 4 had even aired, per Deadline, and the creative team was part of the decision. Netflix announced on May 20 that the upcoming fifth season will be its last, per Variety.

Creator and co-showrunner Ted Humphrey and co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez addressed the news in a joint statement: “All good things must come to an end, but thankfully sometimes how they come to an end is up to us. From the very beginning, the mission was always not only to tell the story of Mickey Haller and his compatriots, but also to give that story a proper conclusion. And while it is of course bittersweet, it’s also an amazing opportunity to bring this adventure to a close and perhaps chart a new course for some of our characters into the future.” They promised the final season “will provide the satisfying finale Mickey Haller deserves.”

Why did Netflix end ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’?

Netflix has not given a specific reason. The first four seasons contributed over $425 million to the California economy, employed over 4,300 cast and crew, and filmed at more than 50 locations across Los Angeles, including Dodger Stadium and Grand Central Market.

What is ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Season 5 about?

Season 5 consists of 10 episodes inspired by Resurrection Walk, the seventh book in Michael Connelly’s Mickey Haller series. Per the official description, “Mickey Haller’s world is upended when the half-sister he never knew existed, Emi (Cobie Smulders), comes to him with a plea to help free a wrongfully convicted woman. In a season defined by blood ties and buried secrets, Mickey takes on a grueling habeas petition to overturn a six-year-old murder conviction, but the deeper he digs the more nefarious the forces arrayed against him become.”

New recurring guest stars joining the cast include Amy Aquino, Angela Trimbur, Elpidia Carrillo, Nate Corddry, Tricia Helfer and Keir O’Donnell, alongside previously announced additions Chris Diamantopoulos, Corbin Bernsen, Diane Guerrero and Steve Howey, among others. Neve Campbell, Krista Warner, Angelica Maria and Gigi Zumbado return in recurring roles.

When does ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Season 5 premiere on Netflix?

No official premiere date has been announced. Production is currently underway in Los Angeles, with filming scheduled to wrap July 9. Based on the show’s previous seasonal cadence, a 2027 premiere is most likely, per Marie Claire.

Where can you watch ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’?

All four seasons of The Lincoln Lawyer are currently streaming on Netflix. Season 5 will also premiere on Netflix.
