Who Is Colman Domingo’s Husband Raúl Domingo? Here’s What You Should Know?

Colman Domingo has been one of Hollywood’s most talked-about and in-demand performers for years, but his husband Raúl Domingo has quietly built an impressive creative career of his own. Here’s what to know about the other half of the power couple.

How did Colman Domingo meet his husband?

The origin story has circulated widely since Colman shared it publicly, and it holds up. Per People, the two first crossed paths in 2005 outside a Walgreens in Berkeley, California. They locked eyes but never spoke. Raúl later posted a “missed connections” ad on Craigslist describing the encounter. Colman found it, recognized himself in the description, and responded. They met for their first date three days later at a San Francisco bar. And later that November, Colman proposed, and they would go on to be married in 2014.

Who is Raúl Domingo?

Raúl Domingo is a producer, director, writer, and creative collaborator. Per Town & Country, he began his career in regional and off-Broadway theater before moving into the luxury fashion sector, holding roles at Lanvin and Max Mara Group. He later led a business initiative at Hearst Media International before transitioning into film.

Per People, Raúl studied filmmaking at the Austin School of Film before co-founding Edith Productions with Colman in 2020. Under that banner, he co-wrote and co-directed the 2022 animated short New Moon, which was shortlisted for an Oscar. He also produced Sing Sing, which earned three Oscar nominations including Best Actor for Colman, as well as It’s What’s Inside and Bottomless Brunch at Colman’s. As Town & Country reported, his bio on the Edith Productions site also notes he is an oil painter and a licensed pilot who flies a Cessna over Southern California.

How long have Colman and Raúl been together?

The couple has been together for over 20 years and married since 2014. Their first summer together, as Town & Country noted, Raúl took a job as an assistant costume designer on a shoot in Juneau, Alaska, where Colman was acting, so they would not have to do long distance.
