Starz has officially greenlit Power: Legacy, a spinoff reuniting iconic Power stars Joseph Sikora (Tommy Egan) and Michael Rainey Jr. (Tariq St. Patrick). The series marks the first time the two characters will share the screen as leads, with Tommy returning to New York to partner with Tariq.
Both actors originated their roles in the original Power more than a decade ago before leading their own spinoffs — Rainey in Power Book II: Ghost and Sikora in Power Book IV: Force. This series is expected to be a continuation of those series.
In a statement, executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson said: “Power never dies, and this chapter is our biggest yet. Fans have been waiting to see Tariq and Tommy together, and now they’re taking over New York City. Bringing Joseph and Michael back together is special — they’ve turned these characters into true icons of the ‘Power’ universe.”
Showrunner and executive producer Gary Lennon added: “It’s going to be electrifying to see if these two men can share the city, the game and the intoxicating drug known as Power.”
Where does ‘Power: Legacy’ fit in the franchise?
Power: Legacy is the fifth spinoff in the Power universe, following Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Power Book IV: Force and Power: Origins, which is currently in production. The greenlight follows the conclusion of Power Book IV: Force in January and comes ahead of Power Book III: Raising Kanan‘s Season 5 premiere on June 12.
The series is a co-production between Starz and Lionsgate Television. Gary Lennon serves as showrunner and executive producer based on a pilot script co-written with Kendra Chapman Davis. Courtney A. Kemp, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Mark Canton, Chapman Davis, Sikora and Chris Selak also executive produce. Rainey serves as producer.
When does ‘Power: Legacy’ premiere?
