FX has revealed the title of its Snowfall spinoff. The Drop: A Snowfall Saga will premiere later this year on FX and Hulu.
Set in 1990s Los Angeles, the series follows Snowfall characters Wanda (Bean) and Leon (John) as they fight to take West Coast rap mainstream while gang wars erupt and record labels move to exploit hip hop culture for their own gain. The series picks up soon after the end of Snowfall.
Who stars in ‘The Drop: A Snowfall Saga’?
Bean and John lead the cast alongside series regulars Asante Blackk, Peyton Alex Smith and Simmie “Buddy” Sims III. Joining in recurring roles are Mykelti Williamson, Nicki Micheaux, Brandon Mychal Smith, Isidora Goreshter, Eric Balfour, Richard Portnow, Zaire Adams and Demetrius Grosse. Quincy Chad also returns from Snowfall, reprising his role as Big Deon.
The series is produced by FX Productions, with Malcolm Spellman, Dave Andron, Thomas Schlamme, Julie DeJoie, Michael London, Trevor Engelson and Paul Garnes executive producing. Andron, Schlamme, DeJoie, London and Engelson also served as producers on the original Snowfall.
Snowfall ran for six seasons from 2017 to 2023. Created by the late John Singleton, the original series focused on the 1980s crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles, primarily following Damson Idris’ Franklin Saint, alongside John, Bean, Carter Hudson, Emily Rios, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Michael Hyatt, Amin Joseph and Angela Lewis.
